Luxury development AMAALA will host the finish to the 2027 Ocean Race, Red Sea Global has announced. This partnership marks the first time in Ocean Race’s 51-year history that sailors will compete in Red Sea Waters.
Founded in 1973, The Ocean Race is a prestigious sailing competition focusing on the intersection of sports and sustainability, aligning with the objectives at Red Sea Global, which features a Corallium devoted to ocean conservation and coral science research.
“”From our work with RSG over the past three years, we have seen that AMAALA is a destination with tremendous potential for significant engagement around ocean health,” said Johan Salén, Director of The Ocean Race, adding: “We believe we can play a role in raising awareness of the ocean’s critical importance in a region with a young population that is reconnecting with their coastline and celebrating their maritime heritage.”
Echoing Salén’s sentiments, said CEO of Red Sea Global John Pagano added – “By bringing this prestigious, purpose-led international event to Saudi shores, we are helping to secure the future health of the Red Sea and the oceans around the world, while nurturing the next generation of Saudi sailors and building a sailing legacy for years to come,”

The 2027 event is now confirmed to start in Alicante Spain and end in the Red Sea, AMAALA will have additional stopover host cities yet to announce their participation.
Part of Saudi Arabia’s 2030 vision, Amaala is an ultra-luxury development situated along the north-western coast of the Kingdom. It will span more than 4,000 square meters, coming in 2025.

Inside Amaala is the Triple Bay Yacht Club. With over four levels in the 7,900 sq of land, the yacht club will be home for both visitors and residents of the development, along with yachting events and regattas. Triple Bay’s designs are led by American international architectural firm HKS at the helm. A stand-out feature of Amaala is the design that preserves Arabic heritage while keeping a modern look through the use of natural elements. Sustainable and elegant.
The yacht club will operate at a 120-berth capacity, accommodating yachts up to 130 meters in length. Vessel services will find fuel docks and personalized services. In September 2023, the development behind Amaala, Red Sea Global, partnered with Monaco Marina Management in an effort to establish Triple Bay as a first-class luxury destination.
