Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZ) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Marina Port Vell Barcelona to establish Qatar’s Marsa Maritime ecosystem as a destination for superyachting operations.
The MoU, signed at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show between the CEO of Marina Port Vell Barcelona, Ignacio Erroz, and the CEO of QFZ, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Faisal al-Thani, puts Port Vell in an advisory position, consulting on matters relating to the management of dedicated infrastructure for luxury vessels, assisting Qatar to attracting foreign-flagged owners and cementing the country’s position as a cruising destination. The marina is also committed to participating in select high-level events in Qatar.

Similarly, QFZ announced a partnership with Dutch shipyard Feadship to advise on the development of Marsa Port’s superyacht prospects. The builder will provide expertise in enhancing maintenance, repair, and refit facilities, as well as consulting on yacht design, marine infrastructure, and sector engagement.
