Qatari Diar Egypt announces yacht marina for $30 billion waterfront development in Egypt’s North Coast

Real estate developer Qatari Diar Egypt is playing a part in expanding marine tourism in Egypt’s North Coast.

In collaboration with architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), the company has unveiled its master plan for Alan Al Roum, a development spanning over 20 million square meters along 7.2 kilometers of shoreline east of Marsa Matrouh.

With a total investment of $29.7 billion and $3.5bn in direct cash investment, the mixed-use tourism project is set to feature a yacht marina, two local marinas, and luxury hotels offering 4,500 rooms.

Rounding out the collaborators of the project are marina consultancy Marina Projects,  landscape architecture firm SWA, and transport and traffic engineering advisory firm Setec.

“We remain committed to delivering the project by Egyptian hands for the Egyptian people, combining Qatari Diar’s international expertise across 22 countries with Egypt’s rich heritage, said Sheikh Hamad bin Talal Al Thani, CEO of Qatari Diar.

“Working alongside SOM and international partners including Setec, Marina Projects, and SWA, Alam Al Roum has been designed as a fully integrated smart city that seamlessly combines its coastal setting with architectural innovation to enhance quality of life and mobility. Qatari Diar is committing USD 3.5 billion in direct cash investment to ensure efficient project delivery,” added Taleb Al-Athba, Chief Development & Project Delivery Officer – Asia & Africa at Qatari Diar.
