The Business of Middle East Superyachting

Gulf Craft new facility

Gulf Craft Announces Plans for New Facility in the UAE

UAE-based builder Gulf Craft announced the opening of a new facility by the end of this year. Alongside showcasing a fleet of superyachts, Gulf Craft took to the Qatar Boat Show to share the news of the brand new 108,000-square-foot facility, which will be located in Ajman, UAE. This marks the second facility by Gulf Craft in the UAE, with an existing space operating in the Umm Al Quwain  area.

In an effort to address the growing need for superyacht services in The Middle East, Gulf Craft Chairman Mohammed H. Alshaali  commented on the announcement, sharing: “With this new facility, we’re not just meeting the rising demand for superyacht services; we’re dedicated to providing an exceptional experience for our clients and supporting the growth of a premier yachting community in the region.” added Mr. Alshaali.”

The facility is set to include a natural water depth of 8 meters, a 600-ton Cimolai travel lift, capable of handling yachts up to 600 tons, and an additional 75-ton travel lift for smaller vessels. Elsewhere, with an 80-meter alongside berth, Gulf Craft will be able to conduct in-water repairs of larger yachts, and four 60-meter yacht berths.

The facility will offer services for carpentry, upholstery, painting, fabrication, and mechanical, and electrical support, complemented by an on-site spare parts shop.

The rise of the Middle East as a superyacht destination brought on an increased number of superyachts visiting the region, and presented an issue in the shortage of refit facilities. In September 2023, superyacht refit company MB92 opened its first refit facility in the Middle East in Saudi Arabia and signed an agreement with Al Seer Marine and P&O Marinas ot develop a new facility in Dubai. In March 2024, Sunreef Yachts opened a manufacturing facility in Ras Al Khaimah with carpentry, upholstery, and stainless steel services.
