Candela to Provide Luxury Destination NEOM with P-12 Foiler Shuttles.

Candela is coming to the Red Sea.

Starting in 2025, NEOM will be home to Candela’s P-12 electric foilers. The Swedish builder is set to provide eight shuttle boats, commissioned by Saudi Arabia’s NEOM. The P-12 foiler, which will be used for the yachting destinations planned water network, is the world’s first electric hydrofoil passenger vessel.

Candela developed the P-12 with the vision of building an on-water public transport system, where passengers can seamlessly access the shuttle. Test flights were completed in late 2023, and the P-12 became available for maritime transport in Stockholm in 2024. The foilers reduced commuting by half the time and offered a more cost-efficient option. P-12 weighs 12 tonnes and moves at much less pressure when activated by the foils without creating any waves. This makes it an energy-efficient option. A large departure from the historically pollutive ferries.

NEOM

NEOM is an ultra-luxury yachting and tourism destination situated on the northern tip of the Red Sea. The destination is currently in construction and is planned to be fully completed by 2039. NEOM features five main regions. Sindalah, one of the first announced, is a 1,100,000-cubic-yard superyacht luxury resort.

NEOM’s Sindalah is expected to open next year.

Part of NEOM, the luxury island plans to accommodate 86 berths for superyachts up to 50 meters in length, along with offshore buoys. Moreover, Sindalah will include a beach club, a yacht club, and 38 culinary options. Sindalah is expected to offer 413 luxury hotel rooms and 333 serviced apartments.

Jaumur is a second superyacht-based community in NEOM. It is situated alongside the coast of the Gulf of Aqaba. Jaumur is designed to host 6000 residents residing in 700 villas and 500 marina-surrounding apartments. The development will also see two hotels with 350 rooms.

For superyachts, the revolutionary marina will see a 1.5-kilometer aerofoil that will accommodate the largest builds on the water.
