Berths will soon be occupied for maintenance works at Gulf Craft’s upcoming Superyacht Service Centre (SYSC) , which the company has announced is nearing completion for operational readiness.

The 10,000sqm facility, located in Ajman, UAE, saw a significant development this week, with the successful certification load test of the Cimplai 600-ton travel lift. The lift allows for the handling of yachts up to 60 meters in length, backed by a second 75-ton lift for smaller vessels and day-to-day service requirements.

Meanwhile, the property’s marina and waterfront infrastructure, which includes deep water berthing at a 6-meter depth and a dedicated service quay, is in its final stages of completion, the company has said. This also includes an in-water berth of up to 80 meters.

The SYSC was announced at the 2024 Qatar Boat Show and was formally signed at last year’s Dubai International Boat Show. The addition of the facility came amid growing demand for service work in the Middle East, as the region continues to expand as a superyacht destination.

“We got the inquiry more and more to function as a service hub provider and not just as a manufacturer. We have seen numbers of 200 yachts that are expected to come in and visit the region, so we find there is a lack in the market for service centres,” said Erwin Bamps, Gulf Craft Group CEO, at the Superyacht Times Gulf Summit in Abu Dhabi last year.

The centre will provide full-scale refit works to vessels of any brand. This includes mechanical repairs and workmanship services such as painting, carpentry, and upholstery.
